I just watched the news and there was this piece on blogs. It was scary because they talked with this lady that had people harassing her and her family. This person was making threats against them and stuff. Scary! There was this other lady that posted pictures of her kids and someone was stealing them and putting them on their Nazi website. She called the police and they couldn't do anything to help her! Crazy!
The police gave out some guidelines to follow to make your blog safer (even though they said it can't ever be completely safe.) The first one is to not post your first and last names. The second one is to eliminate all of your personal info, including birthdays and anything else that could be used to find you. Another one is to not post pictures of your kids! Sad, I know. So, I am thinking of going private. Maybe I'll just wait until I have kids. Any thoughts?

2 Shout Outs!:
I've been worried about this the whole time we've had a blog! We went private when we first set it up, but then everybody complained that they couldn't access it without a google account. And actually, they can be invited as a temp. guest. But we've thought about going private too. Good information, this just affirms that we are going private again!!
And in response to your comment on my blog - HEAVEN'S YES SEND ME SOME RECPIES!! Thanks!
I have kids, a blog, and a facebook account. A few years ago, I had heard of a family whose information about their child suffering from cancer was being stolen and used to raise money. (Fraud) All I have to say is, make sure you don't put ages, birthdays, etc up. But really, even if you don't put that info up, it's already there. All of your bank account info, SS number, and pertinant identifying information is already up there (whether you use it or not). The person who had taken and harrassed the lady, happened to be a family member too...so, just make sure you keep your friends and family close, and your enemies closer! I will choose to stay public, and just edit what content I choose to publish.
